How to Design a Web Site

First, before you start is to draw a plan of your site on paper, with arrows to show how the sections will link together.   Also, remember that the purpose of your site is to sell your products.   So don't get carried away with making the most artistic and beautiful web site on the planet. 

The bottom line is that you want to spend maybe 90% of your time on marketing your site, and only 10% on  design.  Just make sure your site is easy to navigate and explains your product or service.   Don't put up too many banners on your site either, otherwise it will look like an advertising billboard. 

If you are selling products as an affiliate,  many good affiliate programs will give you the headlines and descriptions you can use to put on your site.   Also, a small thumbnail graphic of the product is good to use. 

What is great about affiliate programs is that you don't have to stock or ship products, nor do you need a merchant account to take orders.  You simply put in the affiliate link code on your site and the company handles the processing, shipping, etc.   You then receive a check which they usually pay out semi-monthly or monthly.   With a well laid out site and the ability to get hits to your site, it is fairly easy to make a few thousand dollars a month.
